What it is

A narrow strip of paper carrying glue applied as a fine mesh. It does the same job as fusible web, but the paper backing makes it far easier to handle: you press it with an iron or a heat press, and the paper peels away, leaving only the bond.

What it is for

Stops stretching — along edges, facings and openings that would otherwise distort.
Stops fraying — secures a raw edge before it is finished.
Reinforces one part of a garment along the border, without stiffening the whole panel.
Simplifies assembly — holds pieces together at stages where pins get in the way.
